Woman discharged for holding child’s wrist

first_imgStuff co.nz 26 May 2015A Marlborough woman who held onto the wrist of a stranded child while arguing with his mother for leaving him alone has received a discharge without conviction for assaulting the child.Mother-of-two Anita Desiree Brown, 51, appeared at the Blenheim District Court on Monday.Judge Chris Tuohy said the defendant discovered the crying six-year-old boy alone in the car park of the Richmond squash club.The boy had been locked out of the club while his mother was playing inside, Tuohy said.“He was crying and in distress in the car park area as he couldn’t get back in,” he said.Brown took him by the hand and searched for his mother. When she found the woman, Brown led the child by the wrist.She asked for Brown to hand over her son but Brown held onto him.The judge said Brown was under the influence of alcohol when she acted in a “foolish way” by arguing with the woman about the way she had been looking after her child.The argument became so heated Brown followed the mother inside the club and police were called.http://www.stuff.co.nz/marlborough-express/news/68840814/Woman-discharged-for-holding-childs-wristlast_img
