Listen To The Movement’s New Jam ‘Dancehall’ Ft. Mr. Williamz – Premiere

first_imgThere’s a reason this band is called The Movement. One listen, and you’re sure to be moving and grooving along to their reggae-influenced tunes. With a new album, Golden, due out on April 8th, and a major cross-country tour in support of it, there’s just no telling how high this band can climb.Based out of Columbia, SC, The Movement’s newest album takes its inspiration for the inter-connectedness of the galaxy and human DNA. “I really started to like the idea behind the Fibonacci Code, the Golden Ratio, Golden Mean, Golden Spiral,” says guitarist/vocalist Joshua Swain. “I liked the idea of searching for order and commonality in the chaos. Add to that the idea of requiring a “heart of gold” to inject beauty and goodness into the order and using the word golden as a synonym for perfect… It just made sense to me.”We’re happy to share the very first track from this new release, a song entitled “Dancehall.” Stream the new jam, featuring Mr. Williamz, below:We asked Swain to shed some light on the track’s origins. “Dancehall started out as a slow acoustic ballad, but we felt it wasn’t really living up to its name, so we had to spice it up a little. We were fortunate enough to link up with Mr. Williamz, and with three distinct parts in both style and tempo, we created a unique tale of lost love, music, and magic in the Caribbean,” he said.Golden is not only due out on April 8th, but it will mark the first release on the Rootfire Cooperative, a not-for-profit record label that is owned and operated by artists. Rootfire founder Seth Herman passionately states, “I hope the Rootfire Cooperative can provide micro-financing with the effect of boosting the artists business; and make a positive effect on an entire genre of music.”Check out the full tracklisting for Golden, and don’t miss the band on tour. Mason City Downtown Arena grand opening today, “First Skate” took place on Thursday (VIDEO)

first_imgMASON CITY — While the grand opening ceremony takes place later this morning for the new multi-purpose arena in downtown Mason City, a milestone took place yesterday with the first skate on the ice for the arena.  For years at the North Iowa Ice Arena, Mohawk Hockey Coach and arena manager John Lloyd would always have the honor of being the first person out on the ice. Coach Lloyd had the first skate honors yesterday at the new arena and invited Ron Hanna, one of the founders of the Mason City Youth Hockey program, to join him.  Lloyd says, “It’s exciting because that way now I know now we’re getting ready to go. When I took that first skate, I asked Ron to go with me this year. That was special alone.” Hanna says he was honored to be asked by Lloyd to do that.” Lloyd and Hanna say they look forward to the youth hockey program being able to use the new arena.  Lloyd says they are happy to be a part of this arena and look forward to the future of youth hockey. Hanna says, “We are leaving a lot of old memories out there, and hopefully we have some new memories here.”Lloyd says one of the big differences between the old and new arenas is the amount of locker room space available.   “Locker room space is nice. The high school team has got a larger locker room, but I think we can even get the visiting team into one locker room instead of giving them two. When we have youth tournaments, we’ve got eight locker rooms that we can use for youth hockey tournaments.” The grand opening ceremony takes place at 10 o’clock this morning at the arena, which is on the west side of Southbridge Mall.last_img read more
